Jobs and dancing
February 08, 2008 -- 7:24 am

It's funny that yesterday I was saying that I missed working and that I missed getting a paycheck. No sooner had I written that post the Kelly Temp services called me. I really didn't think they were going to call me again because I hadn't given them proper notice on my last job. The first week was fine at work. But the second week the kids didn't have school one day, Jacob was sick another day, they didn't have school on one of the Monday's because of Martin Luther King Day. So I keep having to miss work and I felt horrible about it. So like I said, when Kelly called yesterday I was really surprised that they would even try to place me again. But the job I am interviewing for is up the street from me at Sunshine and Glenstone in the Plaza Tower. The hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30-12:30. That could not be more perfect. I can drop the kids off to school as early as 8:15 and still be to work by 8:30. And really, they go to school early on Wednesday for juggling, and Brannon could take them to school on Tuesdays, so I would only really have to have them to school early on Mondays and Thursdays. When the kids have early release it still won't be a problem because I get off at 12:30. I have been so bored around the house too. I lose focus. But this way I can work part of the day and still have all afternoon to pack and stuff. Plus it might help me get my mind off of all this moving stuff.

That's assuming I get the job. They do want to interview. This is the first time I've ever had to interview with a placement by a temp service. I asked Lisa at Kelly if there were others being interviewed for this position and she said no. So I guess I'm it. No need to worry about the competition. The thing she said about it that really surprised me...they smoke in the office. She asked me if that was going to be a problem. I told her I would see how it was when I walked into the office. If I walk in and it's like walking into a bar, then I might say something, but if they have air cleaners and stuff, hopefully it won't be a problem. And I'll need to be honest with them up front, that I am getting married in April and taking time off then, and that we already have a week's vacation planned in March. And maybe they take President's day off, but with this much notice I could probably get a babysitter for the morning. Or make play dates for the kids. I'm not too worried about it. Plus I'm around the corner, so even if I have to leave them with Jody and Patty for the morning, it should be ok.

I got the insurance stuff done yesterday. This morning I have to go buy all of Lauren's makeup at Walgreen because tonight we have to go to Rogersville and practice on stage. I watched yesterday, and they were pretty good. All the moms, myself included, are hoping they can really pull it together these next couple of weeks. The end is a little sloppy yet, but I think they'll pull it together in the 11th hour. That is just how Matt operates. Every year it's total chaos right before recital, and then the recital is never less than brilliant.

I am getting my nails done this morning before my interview. Normally I get them done every other Saturday, on the weekends I don't have the kids. I would normally get them done tomorrow, but I broke two of them with all this packing nonsense. They are pretty unsightly, so this gives me a good excuse to get them done...the interview. I asked Brannon what I should wear and he suggested my new gray suit. So at least I have that figured out.

I would REALLY like to hear if underwriting is done with the loan, but that would be just too nice. I'm sure I'll have to suffer over the weekend. Brannon and I discussed a honeymoon last night. We still aren't sure what we are doing. We are just going to take a couple of days. I think the bulk of our money will be spent on the house. We know the first thing we are going to do is paint Jacob's room. Both of the kids rooms are very girly. Lauren wants the room that has the heart wallpaper. Jacob's room is a lovely lavendar. That is going to have to go. We were looking at the JC Penny catalog and we found a really cool camo bedset, but after some thought he has decided he wants his walls bright red. Red? Really? Red? Can't we paint it any other color than red? But it's his room and I told him I wouldn't give him too much hassle. But damn, red is hard to paint, and even harder to paint over. And I'm not sure red is terribly conducive to sleep. We might end up going round and round about that, but if he completely insists, I'll cave. Thank goodness Lauren loves the wallpaper. It's a little much, but really, it's awfully cute, and I think we are getting Lauren a day bed, which would be just perfect with what's in there now.

I could go on and on, but it's time for me to finish getting ready, after I drop the kids off I'm going straight to walgreens and then I'm going to get my nails done. I'm not coming back home until I'm done with all that. And hopefully won't break any more nails packing before the interview. :S
