A seamless day
June 06, 2007 -- 7:03 am

Yesterday was so inspired and flowed so well, I couldn't have hoped for a day to go any smoother. I love it when things just come together. I woke up early and got many things done around the house before the kids even woke up. Then I took the kids to school and went to St. John's Hospital to pick up applications. While I was there they handed me a job listing. It's seriously about 45 pages long, front and back. They used an entire baby tree to print that off. I found the code to the job I had seen online, filled out my app and updated my resume. Brandy even dropped off a letter of recommendation for me. It just all came together so seamlessly. I met Tanya up at the school at 3:30 and she said she would put it on Shaun's desk. Just like that. At best I am hoping for an interview. I have applied at St. John's before, but I am guessing my app just got lost in HR. As many jobs as they have posted, you would think it would be easy enough to at least get a call back for an interview. Apparently not. Everyone I have talked to says its hard to get on at St. John's unless you know someone on the inside. So, Tanya is my in, so now I play the waiting game.

I was flipping through the St. John's job listing. PAGES AND PAGES AND PAGES of nursing jobs. Med techs, LPN's RN's, amazing. Some of these jobs have sign on bonuses. 3 thousand. 6 thousand. SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS TO BE A NURSE. JUST FOR WALKING IN THE DOOR!! That is INSANE!! Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Now, if I could just get into a nursing school. I could still beat myself to a bloody pulp for ever leaving the nursing program I WAS ACCEPTED IN AND WAS ATTENDING!! STUPID STUPID STUPID!!! But that is water under the bridge. Let's just hope for the best with SBU. I'll just wow them with my interview. Anyway, moving right along...

...I LOVE FreeCycle. It has completely changed my life!! I was so nervous yesterday with the whole job application/resume stuff going on, I needed to keep extra busy. I got a wild hair to start digging into stuff. This is how my mind works. The kids got a foosball table, a small one, for Christmas from my dad. I started in the office, cleaning out files, putting away my semester papers (I keep my class notes and stuff, I put them in folders and stick them in the file. I have referred back to these many different times.) So I got a lot of filing done. I decided I wanted the table out of the office, since that is where it is right now. The kids don't have room in their play room for it. Our bedrooms are beyond small. So I thought it would be lovely to put it in the sunroom so the kids could play it when they are outside. So, I moved to the sunroom. I have 2 generators out there from the ice storm. Our's and Jody's, which we are holding on to for him because he never had the storage before. He has storage now, but we prefer to keep it for him so it doesn't get stolen. His garage doesn't lock, so anyone could go out there and take it in the night, and generators are just too damn expensive to risk that. And we do have the space. So I was in the sunroom thinking I want the table out there, but before I can clean the office out, I have to clean the sunroom out. But before I can clean the sunroom out, I have to clean the big shed out, because that is where the generators are going to go...in the big shed. And so I guess I have to clean out the big shed. It's that sad? I have to clean the shed so I can clean the sunroom so I can clean the office. Yeah. That's how my mind works. So, I start digging in. And it goes much faster than I think it will. I stack all my sister's boxes in the corner of the shed. I take out a huge pile of really nice wood that for years I think I will use and never have. It was a huge ass pile of really nice 2 x 4's and misc sizes. I took out carpet and all sorts of just CRAP. And then as soon as I had made nice piles all over my yard, I posted it on FreeCycle. And 2 guys came and picked it all up within the hour. I was SO EXCITED. They took buckets of white chat, all the nasty carpet, the entire pile of wood. They took the scrap metal. I love it when things just fall into place. And now my shed is only half full. The stuff that is my sister's, I just have to wait on her to come and go through it. But the front half of my shed is clean. Really, it's 3/4 clean. It's just the back corner that needs attention now. And I got the generators put away. I got the huge box that holds the pool put away. The mower and all my accesories are all put away nicely. The big gas cans, weed eater, chain saws (we have 3 chainsaws). I am so giddy about this. I have 5 problem areas in my house. The garage, the attic, the 2 sheds, and the kids play room. The garage is about 2 hours from being completely done. The little shed is completely done. The big shed is 3/4 done, and the attic and the play room I haven't even begun yet. But I have given myself permission to take all summer for this. People have posted on Freecycle some wants, and there are things I am considering giving away. We have a computer desk in the shed we aren't using, and someone wants it, I'm not sure I want to give it away. Like I said, I am considering it. There is also someone who wants pavers, and I have a stack of them, but I am considering doing a project and would need them for that. And they aren't cheap. So I might not want to get rid of those. But it's good to have options. If I want to get rid of them, people will take them.

I am sore today too because of all my hard work. But gosh I'm happy as can be. Eric told me I should be proud of myself, and I explained to him that really, it should have NEVER gotten this bad ever in the first place. If I would just maintain, this crap wouldn't happen in the first place. But I am really trying to mend my ways. Being a slob has taken me many years to perfect, so it's going to take alot of undoing.
