A couple of weeks ago I was doing one of those Myspace survey deals. One of the questions it asked was if I could have something I wanted, what would it be. My answer was I wish that I could have a rent a husband for a week so that I could get all these little projects that needed to be finished up around the house done. Or I wished that Brannon could get a week's paid vacation and do it all himself. Be careful what you wish for, that is what they say right? Brannon has had every opportunity and more do to all the odd jobs around the house because two weeks ago Mayse told him and 3 other guys to pack it in. That was just in the sales department. They also let about half of their detailing staff go. Times they are a hard right now. I've been fortune enough to be able to pick up some more hours at the law office, but we are slow too. Several times before Brannon was let go, my boss told me to go home early because there simply wasn't anything to do. I've rearranged the office, I've gotten caught up on the filing, I'm going through back stuff to see if they have paid their bill. The good news is that Brannon isn't freaking out YET. Yesterday he was a bit stir crazy and was starting to feel a sense of urgency. He has applied for every job under the sun. I think he has sent in about 40 resumes last week.
His sister and her finance came to visit us this past weekend. It was nice that Brannon was able to spend the whole weekend with his sister. We had their trip planned for weeks, before he was let go he had arranged to take Friday off and that was it. So it worked out. And for the first time since I've known Brannon we have had a Saturday together. Two now. It's so strange having him home on the weekends. I'm not complaining.
We have gotten a ton done around the house. I think we might actually be able to live here now. No more things laying all around the house propped up against the wall. Now things are actually hanging on the wall. Things that used to leak no longer do. Lauren has a shelf in her bedroom now. The kids' play set is up and ready to be sealed. Brannon got his shop in the garage set up AND he's been building things. Meals are waiting for me when I get home (I'm spoiled). He is Mr. Mom and gets the kids up and dressed and to school and I leave for work at the crack of dawn. I think he is about ready to get out of the house though and get back into the work force. Now we just pray that God shows Brannon where He wants him.
